Blog Tour/Giveaway: Kelly Lee-Creel on Experimenting With Different Fabric Types

handmadehostess-cover

Kelly Lee-Creel is a crafter, photographer, fabric designer for Andover, and now author for Stash Books (which makes her my book sister!). She has stopped by True Up today as part of her blog tour for Handmade Hostess, a book about adding handmade touches to all kinds of parties and gatherings. The book is full of textile projects — unusual and ultra-charming decorations (A tutu tablecloth! A leprechaun’s wardrobe!) that provide the perfect excuse to experiment with unusual and showy fabrics in an easy, low-committment (but highly inspired-and-inspiring)

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Green Bee Design & Patterns

{ Alexia and Michelle Abegg of Green Bee Design & Patterns }

Green Bee Design & Patterns had a booth at market for the second time ever to show off their hot-off-the-presses sewing pattern collection, and how great they look paired with Rob Bancroft’s new fabric collection, MicroMod for Cloud9 Fabrics. (Rob is 1/3 of Green Bee Enterprises!) A few sample projects generated buzz for Alexia’s Jan. 2013 book for Stash Books, Liberty Love.

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Betz White

{ Polar Babies Quilt and Polar Pal Appliqués }

Betz White debuted her new pattern collection, Wildlife with Love ™, at Market. This collection offers techniques for everyone: quilting, appliqué and sewing! Betz was inspired by her son who is concerned with saving endangered animals — so much so that he donates his own money to the National Wildlife Federation. The Polar Babies animals are momma and baby polar bears, penguins and seals and are featured in the Polar Babies Quilt & Pillow pattern. The quilt also features

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Sew Liberated

{ Meg McElwee in her Quilt Market booth }

Meg McElwee has been featured on True Up before –True Up was a stop on the blog tour for her book, Sew Liberated.  Meg started her pattern company, also named Sew Liberated, in 2007 but this was the first time with a booth at Market for this busy mom of two little boys. Meg successfully translated the homespun feeling of her website and blog to her booth, which featured a weathered wood facade, brass

Spring Quilt Market 2012: Green Bee Patterns

{ all photos by Lauren Hunt }

I can’t write enough superlatives about Alexia Abegg. She’s just one of my favorite people in the world. She started out selling her handmade bags and worked with Anna Maria Horner in her studio. Spring Market finally saw the launch of her new endeavor, Green Bee Patterns, which also involves her husband Rob Bancroft (who is also Cloud9 Fabrics’ newest designer!) and her mom Michelle Abegg. From the sound of it, it was a huge hit. Green Bee’s clothing patterns are an answer to

Spring Quilt Market 2012: Quilt Pattern Makers

I’ve never been able to cover all the fabric I want to cover at Quilt Market, so the pattern makers tend to fall completely by the wayside. Fortunately, I had more woman-power this time. Ellen visited Carolyn Friedlander, Atkinson Designs (creators of Yellow Brick Road, my first-ever quilt!), and The Empty Bobbin Sewing Studio. Visit their sites and blogs to find out more about these gorgeous patterns.

Spring Quilt Market 2012: Modern Quilt Studio

{Weeks Ringle in the Modern Quilt Studio booth}

Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr of Modern Quilt Studio have lots of exciting news.

They have partnered with Andover Fabrics and will be releasing a line of fabric at Fall Market called Victorian Modern. Weeks described the line as pretty and soft with a hand-drawn feel. No pictures yet, but surely it will be lovely.

Weeks and Bill released their magazine Modern Quilts Illustrated at Fall Market 2011, and now there is talk of the magazine being available nationally and internationally.

Weeks alluded to
