Fall Quilt Market 2011: FreeSpirit/Westminster – Amy Butler

Ta-da! Here it is! The most wonderful Amy Butler introducing Lark (and the inspiration for it, Maxime de la Falaise) and giving us a tour of her booth. Amy Butler just released her own Lark video here.

Fall Quilt Market 2011: FreeSpirit/Westminster – Jenean Morrison

Jenean Morrison had an insanely creative booth. So I would have given her the Creativity Award if Quilt Market hadn’t beaten me to it. It made me think “Is there anything fabric can’t do?” Also, I’ve compared fabric to music before (collections = albums, etc.) so it’s just so helpful when designers actually name their fabrics after the music that inspired them! Power Pop is available in stores now. I especially adore the cheater-ish geometric print, and the bow ties … they’re just excellent. Jeanine rocks!

Fall Quilt Market 2011: FreeSpirit – Mark Cesarik

I finally got to meet Mark Cesarik and his wife Cara at this Market and they are the greatest people! Cara is the sewist and marketing side of the team, and she somehow squeezes this all in between studying at med school. In their booth they were showing off Mark’s new collection for FreeSpiritMorning Tides, which is newly out in stores. Mark is also working on a collection of embroidery patterns, hinted at in the picture below. You can get a peek of Mark’s Spring 2012 collection, Cosmic Burst, here

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Art Gallery Fabrics – Current Collections

Art Gallery Fabrics showed off their most recently released collections by Patricia Bravo with some magnificent, glowing, colorful displays. Their booth won second place in the double booth division, and I think you can easily see why from these photos. Thanks to Art Gallery Fabrics for sharing these!

This pillow shows off Art Gallery’s Pure Elements Solids and Oval Elements blenders. Both collections boast a handful of new colors this season.

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Clothworks – Penguin & Fish

Alyssa Thomas of Penguin & Fish was at Quilt Market spreading the embroidery love, celebrating the recent arrival of her debut organic fabric collection Safari Sweet, and previewing her next collection with Clothworks, Picnic Pals Organic. I can see this going older or younger depending on the combination of prints, and all together it’s a perfect balance of sophistication and cuteness.

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Anna Griffin

Let’s not forget about Anna Griffin‘s fabrics in the excitement over Blend. Honoka, meaning “harmony flower,” is “an elegant collection of antique Asian patterns and original Japanese silk screen prints. Symbolic subjects like dragonflies, fish and flowers create a harmonious balance of patterns for sewing enthusiasts. The color palette of steel gray, plum, gold and coral is simply stunning.” Agreed!

I wonder where the name Pinelope comes from? This vintage sewing themed collection comes in an “antique

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Blend Fabrics – Maude Asbury

Maude Asbury may or may not be a real person, but she can make a mean fabric collection or three. Calypso, out now, is an exciting mix of graphic florals and geometrics. By the way, I love Anna Griffin/Blend‘s fabric ladder displays.

Kitchy Kitchen is also out now.

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Blend Fabrics – Sarah Watts and Jessica Swift

Anna Griffin just launched her own fabric company last fall, and already she’s launched a new division, Blend, featuring licensed artists from around the world of the mostly-modern type. The rookie team includes Jessica Swift and Sarah Watts. I believe you’ve already met Jessica here, but not Sarah, since this is her first fabric collection. But I think/hope you’ll be seeing her around here a lot more, because she’s awesome.

Sarah’s collection is called Feather-n-Stitch, and it’s out already.

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Cloud9 – Michelle Engel Bencsko and Gennine Zlatkis

I think this is true of all the small organic fabric companies, but I think Cloud9 Fabrics, with the caliber of their designs and the breadth of artists they are getting onto fabric, is pushing the industry forward in a big way. The collections they were showing at Market — their current collections as well as the ones they were previewing on paper — simply blow me away. It’s such a thrill to see this little company grow.
