Bullion Rose Blanket and other things

Back in January I was commissioned to embroider bullion roses onto a knitted baby shawl
The photos above are of this very blanket. You may recall that I didn't have a decent photo of it to show you. Well the grandma of this little treasure text me to let me know that these photos were

Storm Coming!

It has been really, really, hot these last few days;  today was 32 Celsius (89 degrees Farenheit) with a humidex of 36 Celsius (96 degrees Farenheit).  I know, for some of you that may not be that hot, but trust me, for here, it is.  But there's a storm on the horizon , see it???

The Toymaker

So here it is....the new design in our pattern line known as The Toymaker.

I loved stitching and drawing up this project, while sketching I was thinking about how cold it was here in our part of the world during Christmas in July - hence the hat and scarf.  The scottie dog? well he is a new creature to the Cinderberry designs and this is the first time he has appeared in my sketches.  I like him and his little coat.....yes I think little scottie will return again in some other 'future' project, he is too cute to just stitch once.

Pat Sloan What DID my classes do in South Africa?

I am so honored to have worn this for the first EVER International Quilt Conference Africa. Look familiar? Yep.. These are Quilters... the South African Quilters! Sewing... chatting.. sorting... and I believe that empty chair belongs to someone that went out shopping at the vendors mall! (Lucky us.. it was JUST NEXT DOOR) Quilters sewing look the same the world over. We speak the same language "Quilts". And it's marvelous! Of course this group was a tad different as they were ALL bi-lingual. English and Afrikaans. I had forgotten any Afrikaans I might have know when I was in High...

All I Have To Do

I chose to hand quilt this one.  The shower is on Saturday.  I figure I have until Friday morning.  I'll just keep sewing along.

I decided to use all different colors of a meandering running stitch and just go and go until I run out of time.  Then Friday I'll edge it and Saturday it will be finished.

Sometimes I do make new quilts

My main focus is usually vintage and antique quilt blocks and tops that I make into finished quilts, but every once in a while I do make a new quilt.  I recently saw some fabric that I had to buy.  I will make this into a full-sized quilt.

The center of the quilt will be this panel.

this was sold to be a wall hanging

But I will use it as the center of the quilt and build around it with blocks of

Pie Anyone?

I've been absolutely CRAVING peach pie this summer.  Just HAD to make one!  Yesterday was the day.  Daughter 1 dropped by for a bit and I put her to work, helping me peel peaches.  Isn't it a beauty?

It turned out a bit soupy, but that didn't affect the taste!  Yummy!  Want a piece?  Come on over!

Back From Kauai

We are back from our vacation in Kauai.  We had a nice week away, nice weather and views.  Kauai is very different from Maui.  Where we stayed it was very lush and rained every night into the early morning.  Our calendar this time was very full.  I was able to cross off three things on my list this trip.  I learned to paddle-board, snorkel, and kayak in Kauai.

1.  Learn to paddleboard

Red Pepper’s Quilt and My Needlepoint

This colorful quilt is the creation of Rita at Red  Pepper Quilts. She has it listed in her Etsy store. It reminded me of a needlepoint project that I did in 1999 (below). I stitched back and fourth inside three panels using all the colors I love. Like the boho scarf blanket that's in the works now.
