"Apple Blossom Quilt" – for a friend

Customer Vange made this adorable apple quilt for a friend of her's in Winnipeg. Vange did a great job incorporating this fun novelty fabric into a meaningful quilt for her friend. There is more of a story to this quilt but all I remember is Vange referring to an apple tree, apple pies and friendship.  I would love to see the friends face when Vange presents her with this lovely token of friendship.

The quilting is freehand soft swirls - but Vange and I decided we'd call them "apple blossoms". Well it's her quilt and my quilting which

Organizing Jewelry…

in this treasure chest.

At first I thought to make two little boxes.  Then I thought a stack of boxes would be even better.
I spent some time choosing the fabrics - I think I made the perfect choice ('Connections' collection by Paintbrush Studio for Fabri-Quilt).

And because I had 3 colors, I made 3 sets.

Spring Quilt Market 2012: Timeless Treasures – Novelties

Timeless Treasures‘ 2012 in-house and designer novelty collections feature vikings on organic cotton (earth friendly plunderers!), a bowling  by Samarra Khaja, a fruit and jams print that speaks to my inner sticker-collecting 80s child, beautiful black-and-ivory prints to add to their continuously growing library, and mini ice cream and animal prints. I hope these last ones spark a trend of modern mini prints.

Friends, Fun…and Cheese

I had a really, really nice weekend with some exceptional women. I ate lots of cheese. But that’s not the only reason I had a nice weekend.

For a year now, my friend, fellow foodblogger, fellow homeschooler, and fellow cheese lover Rebecca from Foodie With Family and I have been planning for her to come to the ranch and teach a cooking class. Homemade mozzarella is one of her specialties, so some of my other good blogging friends came from far and wide to spend a couple of days, enjoy the class, eat cheese, and eat cheese.

Oh,

Plenty of Denim Lying Around

I spent yesterday on the latest baby quilt, which has a deadline.  I decided that it was too square-ish.  After putting a border on two sides, I realized that the dimensions were off and it needed to be more rectangular. The plan was to add a panel on one end.

I had plenty of denim lying

Look what popped up in the Lilac Lane flickr group! Mary Grace of Hooked on Needles made the cutest All Dolled Up Tote. Even better, she let her little Gracie pick out all of the fabric.

Sampler Progress and Stuff

Love orns

I actually got a good bit of work done yesterday on the Pinwheel Sampler Quilt--no sewing, but a lot of drafting blocks and getting first drafts of instructions written. Today I hope to get more done. Maybe some block construction and in-process photography.

I also have to find a plumber, as I have a broken toilet. Fortunately, I have two others in my house--toilets, not plumbers. I haven't been able to get in touch

Summertime Favorites

These are flowers that grew in our yard this summer.  Picture taken by my sweet husband.

Our store participated in a Sidewalk sale a week ago.  I really enjoy the sidewalk sale, and I first started my job 2 years ago on the sidewalk sale.  So, this got me thinking of my favorite Summertime activities.

Our town days in May start off the season.
