Emilie’s New Room

 Before . . .
Oh how I loved the green walls in Emilie's room. However, when I redid Anna's room this summer, Emilie said, "Mom, Anna loves pink and her room is pink. And I love purple . . . " Yeah I got the hint.
 And here is her purple

Chocka Mocka Locka Wocka

DSC_1840I’m working on a very lengthy post about my weekend, which involved some of my good friends visiting the ranch for a cooking workshop. But while I sort out all the photos of cheese, bread, Charlie lying on the kitchen floor of the Lodge with his business hanging out (well, what used to be his business; he’s neutered), and cheese, I wanted to share some shots of my friends on the last evening of their visit. In an unusual turn of events, a

Design wall mystery

I got this 5 by 7 inch paper pieced beauty from my friend Heather,
who made it years ago, but never finished it.
She's suggesting I make an AAQI quilt with it, and I'm happy to do so.
But I don't have the name of the designer of this stars and stripes and geese piece,
and I need that before I

Miscellaneous Monday

Today I straightened up the sewing room and found a pile of miscellaneous projects hiding in every corner and hogging my cutting table. A few just needed a dab of glue, others are projects that were waiting for a decision on my part. The most recent addition are these antique Dresden Plates. The church ladies decided to use them for our next raffle quilt., but we only have 15. I'll make one more with my antique scraps. Then I'll show the ladies how to blindstitch applique the pieces to muslin.  I hope we choose the right color for the sashing.

Raskog in Action!

Hubby kindly put together all my Ikea purchases yesterday.  Here's one of my new Raskog carts in action beside my chair.  Click the picture to see better - it doesn't show up so well against the dark floor. Three levels of handy sewing stuff!  On wheels!  I love it!  I can roll it into hiding in a closet when I go to bed.  I'm thinking of lots more uses for these wonderful carts:  in the kitchen for

We went for a drive today…

To meet Oliver…up close and personal!

Isn’t he the cutest little guy?

DSCN1295

We asked for a puppy with a laid back, placid personality and Ollie certainly seems to be that kind of guy.

I held him for a while and he happily nestled into the crook of my arm.  *sigh*

Giant Dresden Circle Quilt Tutorial

Hello all!  We are gearing up for our big move to Texas, but in the mean time- I’ve been sewing!  Big surprise, I know.  I wanted to share with you my scrappy boho baby quilt.  The Dresden Circle is about 35″ diameter, appliqued onto a solid piece of Kona grey cotton 44″ x 54″.  (This tutorial, or how-to, is how I made it. I’m sure there are plenty of other ways to do this.)

The Inspiration: This past year
