So-so busy!

I am "full to the top" of things to be done, things doing, & things done.  But, no blogging, so am putting in a couple of words.  The weather here turned HOT, the berries started coming on, the job began getting really busy, etc., etc.

I've canned cherries & frozen strawberries, we've eaten lettuce & greens from the garden - oh & strawberry shortcake, too.  We've weeded, watered & mowed.  I've tested, tested, tested at work.  I've spun some for Tour de Fleece - actually have made my goal of at

Shrinking fabric

Working on the crumb quilt inspired me to go through  my scraps. As a result I made this handful of blocks that will go into samplers for church and one rolling stone block for my Cheddar quilt.
I have 2 more blocks to make and I can put the Cheddar quilt together. First I need to preshrink the cheddar. I am a firm believer in preshrinking.  Not sure why I bother with the antiquey fabrics cause to me, the puckers are part of the

Garden Flowers

In Lansing MI we need rain!  This week the temperature is somewhat back to normal but we still have had no rain to speak of.  Nothing in the forecast until next week.  My garden would prefer a nice long gentle soaking rain, but for now it has to make due with what I add with soaker hoses.   The flowers are doing remarkably well  all things considered.  Here are some pictures. (click to enlarge)  The native plants are doing the best which is to be expected.

Next time something quilty

stay cool

See Them in September

TuesST10

What a fun and fabulous guild meeting we had yesterday at Homewood Senior Center, our last one of the guild year. We take a break in August and come back in September to begin a new year.

There was much to do, see, and taste at our annual end-of-year picnic. The highlights were the donation quilt drawing (which was won by our own Serene J.'s MIL) and our all-you-can-eat picnic buffet.

But before all that took place, and after

Summertime explosion

I don't know what comes over me as I order new fabric for summer delivery. I guess I get excited that school will be out soon & I over do. Or maybe the choices are just too overwhelming & gorgeous. I don't know what happens to me, but I've ordered so much that as it arrives now, we're scrambling to find places for everything. We're rearranging & squeezing it all in as best we can.
We're exploding with new fabric!

Holiday patterns VS Packing

I am supposed to start packing for our upcoming move. Instead, I am going through my recent purchases and trying to decide which pattern to work with first WHEN I am installed in my new studio...

These are Easy as Pie by Karen Christensen. They are lovely! I should begin with the Fall Wall Hanging #160. It will look great right at the entrance of the house.

Oh... I can tell packing will require an enormous amount

Free Quilt Designs

I spent the last 9 days with my 2 year old nephew, Alex. It is more fun to play with him than to quilt.  But it requires more patience than English paper piecing!

Today I played on the computer and I made these designs for my newsletter subscribers.

I hope you are having
