My New Sewing Room

My goal had been to start on the sewing room today, but I was able to start Thursday!  I have the major pieces in place and I think this is going to work well for me.  In the picture above you can see two of the three windows across on side of the room.  My design wall is across the back wall (right side of photo).  You can see my primary sewing table set up with the chair behind it.  On the far

The Deeply Rewarding Modern Issue of American Quilt Retailer

In June 1987, while on home leave from my job in Tokyo, I walked into The Quilt Patch in Fairfax, Virginia, marking the first of many trips I would make to quilt shops around the world. At that time the shop was filled with navy, dusty rose, pine green, burgundy and brown calicos. Jinny Beyer had a massive line of basics and border prints but the colors were extremely traditional and the prints were primarily just 2-3 color prints in 1″ repeats. The fabrics did not speak to me at the time

I finished knitting up my sherbert colored cotton shawlette using the pattern

At first I felt guilty for not posting ... then after a while I almost forgot about blogging altogether ... except for the many emails that I have received checking up to make sure we are OK. All has been well ... just very, very busy ... combined with a little blog overload.

So much has happened in the last 7 months ... fabric ....

... only one new quilt

... but its a pretty good

Guild Challenges

I love a challenge, ok not entirely true.  I love competition more than a challenge.  This is leading to you seeing a very UGLY side of me – but…. I do enjoy competition, sometimes “ugly jen” comes out, she is snippy, determined, a bit petty, and not always good sport – you should see me at scrabble (which I don’t play anymore because Nate cheats!)

Competitions help spur me along with things.   Knowing there is an end and at the end a prize or recognition or that fact that someone won.

Anyways, every year the guild I am in does these
