100 Quilts for Kids

Swim, Bike, Quilt
Have you heard about 100 Quilts for Kids? It's the brainchild of Kate from Swim. Bike. Quilt. Its concept is very simple: make a quilt or 2 or however many you'd like. Donate it to a child in need, locally if you can.

There's a blog hop happening from July 2 through September 25 with

The Gift Box Quilt With an Origami Photo Tutorial

Happy Monday everybody!

I’d like to share a few photographs of my latest creation with you. I hope you like it :-)

I let you have a sneak preview in my Work in Progress Report a few days ago and the quilt is now finished.

I’ve used a Moda charm pack called Rose Parade with white Moda Bella Solids. There were a couple of problems with this design. The first being that when I opened the charm pack I didn’t like it! I love Moda fabrics!! How could

Vermont Quilt Festival Was Inspirational!

This is "New Beginnings" by Kathryn Tennyson of Chestertown, NY. Longarm machine quilted by Heidi Merrill. Kathryn made this quilt for her son who was recently divorced, to inspire him to begin a new life. This magnificent applique quilt won Second Place. It was worth the 5 hour trip just to see this quilt!

Rag Rug FINISHED!

I finally finished the first major project for my kids room.  THE RUG!!!

It turned out really well.  Now it is time to finish up their bed quilts, finish painting the walls and find some used storage furniture (like at garage sales or thrift stores) that I can repaint to hold all their unorganized STUFF!  I am hoping to finish the room in the next two months.  Then, when that room is done...I move onto my other

Rain, Beautiful Rain

I didn't have to water flowers this morning. The outside thermometer tells me that temps are almost 30 degrees cooler than this time yesterday. AND IT'S RAINING! Life is good. But let me also send out condolences to all who are still suffering in the heat, especially those who are without air conditioning due to the horrible storms. I wish you could all come to The Yellow House and enjoy the rain and the air conditioning.

One More Problem

Whining Mode Activated:

It's hot out.

My toe hurts.

My neck has a crick in it.

We need rain.

You would think that would get all of the whining out of me but, no.  One more problem:

Check out that under bite.

I can't figure

Giveaway Winner and Crazy Weekend

First, the important stuff....the winner of the Batik Bonanza giveaway is Peg S.  I've already sent an email to request your mailing address.  Thanks so much to everyone for entering.  I really liked using Rafflecopter, and it made running the contest so much easier.

I would have announced sooner, but we were one of the 500,000 people in MD who lost power due to the big storm.  I was in my studio sewing on Friday night, and boom, no power.

The Morning Walk

Tempting as the morning walk is, I've learned to keep in mind that going home is up hill, so it's wise not to go too far!  The water in the distance is Digby Gut, and at night the lights of Digby sparkle in the distance.  A bit farther down that road is where Kaaren from The Painted Quilt blog lives.  We haven't met yet, but I'm sure we will soon!

Yesterday, I put on the front screen door.  It was a hit
