Eva’s Delight Quilt Block

I found this 8-1/2" Eva's Delight block in 5,500 Quilt Block Designs by Maggie Malone.
In these diary entries, Eva is Hattie's 25-year-old sister.  She lives in Washington state and is married to George Wiley.  Ruth and Mary are Hattie's older sisters who also live in Washington.  Mary is married to Lester Johnson.  Ted is

Wayne Thiebaud at the John Berggruen Gallery

There should be a reality show called Vendors Behaving Badly. It couldn’t be any worse than the reality TV shows on channels today. When copious amounts of caffeine and chocolate didn’t work, I took myself off to the John Berggruen Gallery to look at the Wayne Thiebaud exhibit they have on display.

I love Wayne Thiebaud’s work.

I love the way his brushstrokes look. I love the way he paints regular things. The cakes and pies and other desserts are kind of special, but they are also normal. I strive to be a bit influenced by his work

My Favorite Holiday…

has always been the Fourth of July.  The parades, the warm (hot) weather, the USA, the picnics, red, white & blue.  What's not to love?  I have also always loved this:

That flag is from Pottery Barn so of course it is a tad bit expensive.  If you're me, it's really expensive.  But oh how I've always loved it.  Which gave me an idea.

Stain-proof, self-binding table runner – Tutorial

table runners
Today my middle name is 'problem-solver'! I am so excited! My family loves having my quilts all around the house, but they are sometimes afraid to handle them at the dinner table. I have beautiful table quilts and runners which are confined to the dining room as the kitchen table is disaster prone...

This morning I tackled this challenge and created a table runner that is pretty, quilted, and stain proof, using vinyl fabric

Travelling Jane’s Adventure Continues…

After spending time with me in Halifax, and attending Quilt Canada 2012," Travelling Jane" is on her way to Bedell, New Brunswick, to spend some time with Shelley of Red Quilts.  Bedell is just outside Woodstock.  The Town of Woodstock is just under 100 kms west of Fredericton, the capital city of New Brunswick, close to the Canada/US border at Houlton, Maine.

It was fun while it lasted Jane. You can read all about my and Jane's adventure here and

Dear Pioneer Woman, Part 3

(Before I begin this installment of Dear Pioneer Woman, I have a question for myself:

“Ree, what were you looking at in this photo?”

Just curious.)

And now, for your questions! These are from both comments and emails over the past week. I’ll keep answering them gradually, as there are many, many good ones.

Oh, and remember: I don’t know anything.

(If you have questions you’d like to submit, just email advice@thepioneerwoman.com.)

Dear PW,

My question is about having four kiddos. I always thought I wanted a four child family, but the two

Juggling Summer…beginnings

I have been sewing here and there...
A few half square triangles.
With Juggling Summer by Zen Chic that I picked up on etsy.

Lots of other 'stuff' has been going on...
Usual life stuff, you know.
Like my mother in law made an emergency trip to our house for a root
