Sketching #160

CPP Response #160: Dilute

CPP Response #160: Dilute

I went on a binge of drawing the other night and did all the drawings I had missed except for two. I am trying to keep up now.

I had some trouble with the splashing of the water into the glass. I’ll have to look at it as I pour something into a

They really liked my chickens and eggs!

Last winter I made a pair of chicken and egg quilts, using this Kaufman Mona Luna print
It's a simple design showcasing the fabric with a white panel
appliqued with two chickens,
but it's attracted a lot of attention from my lovely blog readers
and people who see it in person.

Slow Down

Stop it! Stop growing so fast!

I say that in my head very frequently, whether I'm looking at my chunky monkey baby, Death Wish Arkison trying yet something new and scary, or the depth of my conversations with The Monster. I wish they would stay teeny and innocent and full of natural curiosity. And not talk back to me.

Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum

I have finished the pirate quilt. I wasn’t sure I liked it until I quilted it. It is amazing the difference it makes.

Here it is loaded on the frame. Thread colour chosen, bobbin colour chosen – and off we go

Lisa’s quilts for someone special!

I have a lovely young customer Lisa who I consider more a friend than a customer.  A few months back Lisa brought me a number of children's quilt tops she had pieced together with her Mom while visiting down east for the Christmas holidays.  Lisa asked if I would like to finish them off and in turn pass them on to one of the charity organizations I am affiliated with.  Isn't that absolutely awesome!

I put them in my quilting queue and have just had a bit of extra time to finish up two out of the five she brought me.  The

Church Windows Quilt Block

I found this 12" Church Windows block in 5,500 Quilt Block Designs by Maggie Malone.  I used 100" linen for the background fabric and really enjoyed working with it.
Hattie has been dating Frank since June.  He has recently asked her to marry him, and she has not given him an answer yet, telling him she needs more time.  Ted is Hattie's "inquisitive" younger brother!

Everything’s sourdough this morning!

Jim pulled in around two this morning, but I managed to go back to sleep!  I got up at five, had coffee (yes, I caved… I’m back to drinking coffee but decaf only), whipped up some waffles and shaped my sourdough into a loaf, went outside and watered from five thirty until eight thirty, fed the chickens and geese, picked berries and came in for breakfast.

By golly that spiced blackberry syrup with brandy is just to die for!

I left the bread rising
