Review: Simplicity 1887 | Ms. Fancy Pants!

I've been seeing printed pants everywhere -- on all of the style bloggers; as a favorite in street style fashion and all over Pinterest.  I've seen them in wild animal prints, bright florals patterns and bold abstracts.  So I was inspired to try out this trend.

Adventures in Gammil land

So, I got a second hand Gammil a few weeks ago. I love this machine, love. I have had a few practise runs and quilted a few quilts on it. I love the hum it gets when it really starts purring. I love the speed. I love that I'm getting better at moving the machine around. I still suck the big one when it comes to pantographs, but they don't really interest me anyway.

To sash or not to sash, that is the question.

I sewed these bricks together several years back,
planning to make a traditional Chinese coins quilt,
but I couldn't find the right sashing.
So it sat in my drawer,
and now I'm in a place where I want to finish it quickly.
What do you think about no sashing
with the seams not matching?

Ready to take the show on the road

When at quilt market last month, Carla, Linda and I passed the Tutto booth. I have looked at their rolling travel cases for sewing machines before. And after taking my Featherweight to Minnesota last year in a case that I did NOT like, this case was looking even better to me.

And the best part: It comes in orange!

Okay, that isn't really the best part. The best part was their quilt market offer: buy three, get them at wholesale price, no tax, and they would be shipped after the show.

After some arm

Twas the Night Before Moving…

Twas the night before moving and all through the house,
ALL the creatures were stirring as if chasing a mouse!
Not a room was compete and not one was neat,
There was hardly a place to relax and take a seat.
With two suitcases packed along with dog food and bowls,
We're preparing to live for two weeks like trolls.

Lots of Sterlite containers, bins and boxes galore,
Piles of pictures and quilts and knick knacks I adore.
The TV's are packed, ready to go,
What will I do without my shows?
That great big truck will be here

Life party for Amalya

I’ve mentioned before about how our daughter and her husband are expecting their first child, but the baby has a condition that will not allow for him to survive outside the womb. I know some people don’t understand, but our daughter and son-in-law (and all of us as a family) have chosen to fully embrace this child and be the best parents they can be for as long as God allows. As part of that choice, they have been purposefully doing special things with their

Becoming Real

I look at quilts for sale on eBay a lot.  Often they list them as cutters.  I always just skim past those and pay no attention to those “old worn out” quilts.  Here is one I passed by today.

It occurred to me today that there is more here than just an old worn out quilt.

Here is a bit of one of my favorite stories.
