Happy Friday

Friday is already a better day around here than Thursday.  I really, really freak out about weather, and yesterday we had a doozie of a storm.  But today, sunny and bright.  Just a few remnants left from the storm. Actually storms.  There were quite a few!

Many of you have been asking about the fabric requirements for Lucy's Beach Bag.  Here they are:

Outside:  2/3 yard canvas

Trim & Handles- 1/4 yard canvas

Lining- 1/2 yard canvas

We created our sample

Odds and ends

Do you use Color Catchers?

Color Catcher In-Wash Sheets

I don’t pre-wash fabrics when making quilts, so I like to have a way to protect from bleeding dyes when I wash them, at least for the first time. I washed these separately and threw a Color Catcher sheet in with each one.

Cilantro Recipe Ideas?

I'm a recent convert to Chipotle.  My sis has been raving about it for months, and I've finally joined her camp.

I fell in love with their Lime Cilantro Rice.  I found a recipe here, made it last night using my rice cooker - so simple and yummy.  Just follow the recipe, but dump everything in the rice cooker instead of using a pan.  I didn't bother melting the butter either, just threw it in.

Somerset Bag Pattern and Shop Updates

It's been so crazy around here. I have some GREAT news! After 1 1/2 years of health issues between the doctors' appointments, procedures, lab work and hospital visits, I finally got the ok from my doctor that all is well. It's been such a roller coaster ride and I am so happy that I am healthy once again. What a RELIEF!
After the great news, I got motivated to update my Etsy shop and finished the Somerset bag pattern. The Somerset pattern is available to order right here on my

Fan Quilt blocks revisited

I recently finished a quilt made of vintage fan blocks.

I purchased 90 of the fan blocks on eBay. I think I paid about $30 for the blocks.

I am always looking for new treasures on eBay and for the past week I have been watching another lot of blocks that are almost the same (here they are below)
