Jackie’s Stitches 2012-05-21 22:32:00

I had a great weekend and hope each of you did too. I didn't get much sewing done but I did get my bee block sewn. My bee mate asked that each block have a theme. I don't have much in the way of themed fabrics so I picked this color palette as my representation of a Florida sunset.

MAY FMQ Challenge

The FMQ expert for May for the SewCalGal 2012 FMQ Challenge is Leah Day.  Her tutorial was very informative and I really enjoyed practicing the double stipple and railroad tracks foundational FMQ that she shared by video.  I have been following Leah for quite a while and I have learned lots from her.  These are two designs I will certainly use in the future.

Nancy Crow workshop: strip-piecing & restructuring

I didn’t post all last week because I was away at a Nancy Crow workshop! I’ve wanted to attend one for five or ten years. Probably from the first year she started holding them. I was never able to do it when I was working full time, or in the few years since I started working from home, so I was thrilled when it worked out for me to attend this year.

I signed up for the Strip-Piecing and Restructuring workshop as

Hand quilted beauty

Here is the quilt I pieced for Michael and Daniela. The original pattern designed by Mabeth Oxenreider, published by American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, August 2006 issue, was made using batiks and was a bit larger. Since we were going to hand quilt it, I decided against using batiks. Thanks to Sue, Diana, Rosemary, Lee, Allisha, for all the hours (over 160 of them, in about 2 months!) we spent together laboring and laughing as we completed the quilt before the wedding day .

Thank You!

I reached a milestone today.  I have been blogging since March of 2011.  That first month my blog got 157 views. I honestly didn’t know if anyone would be interested in my little quilting hobby.  A little more than a year has gone by and today I passed the 50,000 views mark.

Thank you all for following my blog.  It has been such a joy to share my quilting addiction and my garden.

So what does 50,000 look like?

Anyan: Cotorienne

I have seen bits and pieces of this Yuwa collection around the shops and loved the prints individually, and now that I’ve seen the whole thing together thanks to Fancy Tiger in Denver, I love it even more.
