Dear Stella: New Kids/Novelty Collections

More new collections from Dear Stella, which will all be debuting in Kansas City next week! It’s a Shore Thing is by Jack & Lulu, Dear Stella’s first licensed designer. I love the simplicity of it. Have I ever seen an ocean-themed collection in boy and girl colorways? I’m not sure I have.

Dear Stella: More New Collections!

Dear Stella has a new round of beautiful fabric collections debuting next week at Quilt Market. But before I launch into them, you should know about their Quilt Market promotion: If you’re a buyer or a blogger/editor, stop by their booth for a hot pink Dear Stella tote, no purchase necessary. If you’re spotted with the tote on the Market floor by their roving representative, you’ll win a prize on the spot and be entered into a grand prize drawing!

Above, a first look at Bukhara, a colorful mix of

Preparations

Tammys cq 2

I've been trying to tie up loose ends all week long this week. I'm leaving tomorrow morning on a long-ish driving trip - first to Ohio and then on to Kansas with my Mom. Among other bits that needed tieing up is my work on Tammy's crazy quilt block.

The Crazy Quilting International group on Yahoo hosts lots of various swaps, exchanges and round robins. I joined the

Back to sewing!

Finally my head is clear enough to actually finish something. Earlier this week I finished the baby quilt I was making for my new great niece. The photo isn't great but it's a cute quilt. It's flannel so a bit warm for this time of year but I had bought the kit in November.

It's called season teddy bears or something like that.

When I was sewing the binding on my

Thanks!

I had never heard of Google Docs until a couple of days ago when I whined about having problems with Scribd and asked for your help to find a reliable hosting site for my FFF PDF files.  So many of you came to my rescue and suggested that I give Google Docs a try.  After several attempts at trying to figure out how to upload the file, I finally ‘got it’ and have since replaced the link on my FFF post which you can find HERE

With your help, I

Binding

I am in the binding stage.
It's already pieced. I made even a hanging sleeve.
Now to sew them.

Thank you for your latest comments. I am glad you like what you see. Yes, this is the back. The front is colorful.

Some of you asked about the machine I used. This one.

Working on  this quilt I learned what patience means. Music helped me a lot!

That’s a mean green sewing machine!

Happy weekend everyone!

I would like to share my latest WIP with you. It is proving to be very special to me. Not because it is a complicated work of art. No, actually, it has been very straightforward and quick to put together so far, apart from me slicing my finger with the rotary cutter  The reasons I’m enjoying this project soooo much is because it is made mostly from a Moda charm pack called Summer Breeze II which DH bought for my birthday a couple of months ago AND I’ve pieced the entire quilt top with my late Mother-in-Law’s vintage Viking Husqvarna sewing machine

Warning: Picture Heavy!

You know how there are certain patterns that you remember sewing long after you are done with them? Those ones that become favorites no matter how many other quilts you have made in the meantime? In my case, that

A new inspiring Moby Dick

In 1996 when applying to be a VISTA volunteer in Appalachia I met my future husband and business partner Bill Kerr. Bill had just finished 10 yrs of living around the world and out of a backpack — literally he had just spent six months hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine and living in a tent. He cooked me dinner in his tiny furnished studio apartment that was impressively spare. I asked about owning books and he said, “Why do I need to own books if I live across
