Cute Coffee Quilt

My friend Max made this very cute quilt. The quilting was a pantograph called "Popcorn" by Jodi Beamish, Legacy batting and rayon thread by Wonderfil.

So this one time at band camp….

Yep I’m at band camp.

Right now I am sitting in a mass band rehearsal while a guest conductor works with my kids (grade 8 and 9) and kids from other schools to make up a band of 105 kids.  I’m listening to a very difficult version of Amazing Grace, which is beautiful when it is played just right.

But that is not while I am writing.  I am marveled by my students.  We performed twice yesterday and they blew me out of the water.  The impressed everyone.  For the MOST part

Published and a Quilt Along

First, I’ve had 3 poems published in University of Maine, Presque Isle's journal, Upcountry.  It’s a free journal, so go read them.

Second, I’ve completed the Hop to It block for last month.  I am now officially caught up.  The new block hasn’t been chosen yet.  That’s for Joan to do.

And Thirdly, Joanne has a nifty quilt along for a small quilt (think

crochet makes me happy — this week’s crochet square — peach rose

Crochet

So this week I worked on the Peach Rose square from Jan Eaton's Book, "200 Crochet Blocks for Blankets Throws and Afghans" * (last week was the chocolate box)  and I really like the lacy feel of it.

So far the chocolate box is my favorite though.

I have to tell you that giving myself the assignment of one block a week has been so fun.  I actually

Coming in Fall 2012 to a fabric store near you!

Yay! Bill and I are delighted to announce that we have been working on a fabric line with the wonderful (and I really mean wonderful) people at Andover Fabrics which will be available in Fall 2012.

We hope that quilt shops will embrace our new line as they have our magazine and books. I’ll post sneak peeks when I’m allowed but in the meantime I hope that you’ll leave a little room in your stash for our new line, which we’ve been working on since last year. We’ll also be featuring a

A Finished Granny

Yay! I finished the Flea Market Fancy Granny Squares quilt! It's washed, dried and all crinkley!
I chose to bind it in red. The print has microdots. It's one of my favorites. (Please forgive the fold lines. I had the quilt all folded and ready to go when the sun decided to show itself and I thought I'd try for some half decent

MARRYING TWO TECHNIQUES

Dang, I have so little to show today.....life is getting in the way of my stitching passion!

Part of the reason for the slow process is due to the excess indecision I'm experiencing as I embellish the rusted burlap sections that surround the blocks.  The look I am striving for is simplicity, yet interesting enough to draw the viewer in to experience some of the 'blended in' thread work.

UFO Progress Report: Week 18

Bird Block2

This is not a UFO, but it's what I've been working on this week, the wedding banner for my friend's granddaughter. I have one of the appliqued blocks finished. And the rest of the pieces are just stuck up on my design wall for auditioning. I think it will have a scalloped border, but I'm not sure. I haven't decided if I really want to make and sew bias binding yet, and a scalloped border
