S. Fielke, A Travelling Show

Home home, I'm home! Not that I've been miles and miles away, just in and out for a few weeks, so it's nice to sleep in my bed and hug my dog, before I'm off again on Thursday.

So where have I been? First to the Hunter Valley, north of Sydney, for my best friend's 40th birthday. 40 is a bit of a theme around here this year - all my school pals are turning 40, and it appears I am next. Ay carramba.

The Hunter was a few days filled with friends and fun and food an laughter, wonderful medicine for

Another Paula Nadelstern Day!

Before you read any further, allow me to tell you right up front that although I had my camera and my iPhone with me, I did not take a single picture. (I know, right?) There was plenty of eye candy there today, but I was a slacker. Or something like that.

Anyway, I spent a good hunk of today at a Paula Nadelstern trunk show. I love listening to her tell about her quiltmaking, and I love her quilts. So sitting and watching and listening today was a joy. And I did pick up three of her fabric panels.

April 2012 Free-Motion Quilting Challenge

I finished my April FMQ Challenge hosted by SewCalGal.  The goal was to try a new marking technique for our free-motion quilting.  We were supposed to lay a piece of tulle over the pattern and trace it.  Then lay the tulle over the desired quilting material and trace it again.  We were given a specific pattern to use.  Easy enough.  Here’s my piece.

I then decided

Ribbons

Still playing with ribbons... It can be so addicting! Gotta work on adjusting the pearls before the glue dries! This could be a pretty corsage, and I might use red satin ribbon as the teal one, instead of organza. Practice, practice...

Second Phone Case – So Many Lesson’s Learned.

I know that I can always buy a pattern and follow the experts in creating a cell phone bag for my new phone, but I'm stubborn.  This is something I am determined to complete.  The improvements I wanted over my first try at the phone case were that I wanted a hook mechanism to hang the phone on a lanyard or wrist strap and I wanted a pocket to carry some change for when I am on break.

So, please join me in laughing with me about how many times I tried to create this second phone bag.
