Kelly Lee-Creel: Storybook Lane

Kelly Lee-Creel (aka Ever Kelly) is the lastest designer to join the growing modern ranks of Andover Fabrics. I met Kelly a few quilt markets ago and through email, her blog, and in person have been following her journey toward her dream of becoming a fabric designer. Her tenacity and talent have finally paid off, and I couldn’t be happier for her! Her debut collection is called Storybook Lane, and it features 18 prints in 2 mix-and-match-able colorways. And it’s awesome. It includes two fabric panels which

Semblance of order, don’t you think?

There is no elegant way to move house. Half of our house is piled high with boxes. There is a semblance of order, but only just.

Today my sewing stuff gets all packed up. I've been trying to squeeze as much craft into my non-teaching break as possible, but it just hasn't been possible. But in the new place, a new sewing space and opportunity to start anew once more.

I need to send my machines off today to get serviced

Spring 2012 Quilting Quarterly

The Spring 2012 issue of NQA’s Quilting Quarterly arrived in my mailbox last week. It spent several days sitting on my desk before I opened it. Emblazoned across the top of the page 9 says “Quilting with No Fear,” and below is a picture of me. Oh, dear! Me? No fear? I try to be brave. I try to approach my art without fear, but I definitely haven’t arrived! In fact, over the last several months, I feel like my feet have been captured in concrete and

51//2012

Postcards from Tuscany.

Another day another sport.

Nonno gave the boys an archery lesson.

Once again no live animal or person was hurt in the pursuit of this ancient and noble activity.

However I won't be surprised if they all start wearing green tights and sporting feathers in their hats...

WIP Wednesday ~ 4/11/12

It's been a slow week around here. Everyone has come down with a cold. I've spent days sitting on the couch cuddling with sick little kiddos. So I have to be pretty quick on here today before I am called to sit on the couch and watch Mustard Pancakes for the umpteenth time.
I sewed a few more hexagons into flowers. Right now I think I am going with the aqua Kona to put in between my flowers unless

Zig zag quilt finished

This is such a quick and easy quilt. The pattern can be made with half square triangles (a lot of work!), but I used this tutorial  - piecing strips, cutting squares and piecing blocks on point.

I would have liked more a quilting done with perfectly straight stitching  (and walking foot).  But rotating the quilt under the needle every few inches is not for me. Not now, at least.
