Happy New Year!

My friend Linda has collected a yearly ornament for at least 10 years. I didn't understand why she liked them so much. It seemed strange to me.... hanging all of the old year ornaments on a tree. After all, everyone could tell when you purchased them.

Pottery Barn used to carry them....but no longer. I guess not many people saw them the way Linda did. Now she has me collecting them too. She hangs each year from her chandelier. As we celebrate the

More quilts of 2011

Larger quilts of 2011 (or ones that took forever to make): clockwise from top left: letter banner for my church, 100 shades of green banner, t-shirt quilt, string quilt (single), scrappy throw, hand appliqued queen sized quilt which raised $5200, rose lap throw, t-shirt quilt. When I look at this batch, all these were less than straightforward projects, and some of them took several years to get finished (the roses and the string quilt.) I had problems making

Fall Quilt Market 2011: FreeSpirit – Mark Cesarik

I finally got to meet Mark Cesarik and his wife Cara at this Market and they are the greatest people! Cara is the sewist and marketing side of the team, and she somehow squeezes this all in between studying at med school. In their booth they were showing off Mark’s new collection for FreeSpiritMorning Tides, which is newly out in stores. Mark is also working on a collection of embroidery patterns, hinted at in the picture below. You can get a peek of Mark’s Spring 2012 collection, Cosmic Burst, here

One Last Finish for 2011

I was able to squeeze in one last finish for 2011!  I just put the last stitch in the binding on Lilly's Max & Whiskers quilt.

Now she'll be able to snuggle on the couch with it on those cold days.
On my day off last Monday, I decided I needed

The Need for First Aid Kits

Once upon a time there was a teacher named Jen.  She and her teaching team had to come up with a fun activity for their students on the last day of classes before Christmas break.  One night while she was asleep she had a dream that they took their students ROLLER SKATING!  She mentioned this to one of her teaching team members and they both thought it would be fun for the students and they booked it.

On the 23rd of December the 65 students and 5 teachers loaded into the bus and made their way to Llyod’s Roller Rink.  Students

2011 WIP Report

Good-bye 2011!

Hello 2012!

I don’t care much about work except for the money it brings and the colleagues with whom I enjoy spending time. What matters to me is my sewing and quiltmaking. I have enjoyed 2011 and made some wonderful projects. Below is the 2011 inventory of the quilts, etc that I sewed or created in 2011. I am also took a look at where I am in the process of various projects as well as where I want and need to go. I feel like I have made progress since the previous roundup post of December 31,
