ThreadHead Quilt Along

I finished this top last month.  It's the ThreadHead Quilt Along 2012 piece.  I wanted to accentuate the columnar effect, so I used different shades of green.  And, because I love gold so much, I used that for two of the borders (there's a thin gold outer border that you can just barely see in the photo).  Many of the greens and blacks also have gold or gold flecks in them.  I was going to make this quilt as a sofa quilt, but it's a bit big for that now and I've fallen soooo in love with it that it's

Design Wall Monday

I'm working on catching up on the Thread Head Quilt Along 2012 blocks.  In between, I'm putting together these lovely sashing pieces for my Hop to It quilt.

And that's pretty much all I'm doing right now.

Still pretty much exhausted after putting together the book.  To see the unfinished cover art, click here.  The book will actually look much different, but retain this art.

New Book

I've been working hard on getting the new Breathe book ready for publication.  Finally done.  Finally being printed.

Whew.

Here's a great thing:

The return of Pizza Season.  Or, as Vince likes to call it (silly him) Hockey Season.  Yes, hockey is locked out, but there are some reruns of the greatest games on TV.

I'll be back on track in no time!

THQA 2012 Block 3

Here are all my Thread Head 2012 Quilt Along blocks so far.  The third block was a pinwheel.  I love pinwheels!

It was a three-day weekend, so I got lots done.  I finished up this little Jo Morton quilt.  I call it "Last Days of Summer".  These baby baskets were so fun to make and they're soooooo cute!  Joanne made one, too.

Off to Massachussetts

Here's an image that shows you the kind of summer we've had up here in upper New Brunswick, Canada.

This was taken in July.  I believe it's a mustard field.  While it's turned brisk at night now, the days are still warm and sun-soaked.  I'm happy for it, too; the last couple summers here have been rainy and cool.  I'm a sun worshipper by nature.

I'm off to the great state of Massachussetts for my brother's wedding. In my mind, he's

Published and a Quilt Along

First, I’ve had 3 poems published in University of Maine, Presque Isle's journal, Upcountry.  It’s a free journal, so go read them.

Second, I’ve completed the Hop to It block for last month.  I am now officially caught up.  The new block hasn’t been chosen yet.  That’s for Joan to do.

And Thirdly, Joanne has a nifty quilt along for a small quilt (think

Someone, Something and an Award

Raewyn pointed me to Leanne's blog post: Someone to Love, Something to Do, Something to look forward to and I thought I’d join in the fun.
This is the quote that inspired it all:

"Happiness is pretty simple:

someone to love,

something to do,

something to look forward to.” ― Rita Mae Brown,

So, here are mine:

The Kings of the House

The saying is, “The man is the King of the house.”  Not here.  These are the Kings.  And we are only the peons.  As long as we serve them well, we are tolerated and allowed to live here.

Ivy and New Book

Well, it's a cold and white day outside.  We have a wood fire going in the basement and, for the most part, that keeps us toasty.  I say "us", but it's mostly me.  DH, as a native of this area, can handle life a bit colder than I can.  In a few years, though, I'll be the comfortable one when we move to warmer climates.  He'll be the one fiddling with the AC just to get the right temp.  I'm wondering if there's any place that will agree with both of us.

I made my piece for the
