Button magnet tutorial

I had a deadline that I had to complete by today, so naturally, midstream I had to take a little break and do something else. It really wasn’t my fault. I was a Joann’s, and they had buttons on sale, and they had cute little packs of all blue buttons. A light bulb went off in my head and I knew I needed to squeeze in one more tiny project.

I use magnets to hold up my revolving door calendar to the sheet metal that we attached to my studio door. The magnets I use are

Pencil Pets Tutorial

Here is a project that I have done many times in my life. It is a great activity for your kids' school parties (or any party for that matter), birthday gifts for children's groups (church groups, scout groups...I just made 40 for the children in my church, to celebrate their birthdays), a fun summer project for your kids, or what ever other reason you can come up with to make these cute pencil pets.  Children of all ages love them.

Another tutorial tried and tested….

One of my readers, Witchylin, has sent me some lovely photos of the quilt top she has made using my tutorial. She even included some of her progress pictures. She seems very organised :-)  Notice the lovely orange leaf cushions on the chairs. She made those too!

The strip sets are ready to slice.

Next, cut them up into squares.

Put the squares together, draw across the diagonal, sew a seam either side of the line and then slice in two.

Small Ironing Board Cover Tutorial

I went to my local thrift store yesterday to find some old sheets to cut up for the rag rugs that I am learning how to make.  Amongst the throngs of sheets was this light green print with this really cute band that ran across it with wonky birthday party animals.  It was adorable.

Another tutorial……

Just a note before we start: My photos, tutorials etc. are all over Pinterest. Now, I’m not a nasty person, and I can be easily flattered, but I do spend a lot of time sharing my own ideas with everyone because I enjoy it and they seem to as well. My gripe is, that no-one has ever asked my permission to take what belongs to me and, to be honest, I’m quite upset about that. They haven’t even left a comment to say they liked what they took. Thank you for respecting my copyright. Please bear in mind that Pinterest

Tutorial – Needle your thread and tie your knot

Hey everyone!

As promised, here is a quick video tutorial showing how I prepare my needle and thread for any hand sewing or embroidery I need to do.

To give credit where it’s due:  I learned the needle your thread thing from watching my left handed mom, and I’m pretty sure I learned the quilter’s knot from a blog post from Anna Maria Horner. Thanks ladies!
