A couple days ago I showed you my crazy adventure in Free Motion Quilting mistakes.   I’m happy to report the quilt is fixed up and finished.  Hooray.  Thank goodness I rotated the quilt 90 degrees on my quilt frame to make those drip/puddle swirls more smooth.  Are they the smoothest thing ever… yeh, nope.  But they are way better.  I have affectionately named the quilt Puddle Jumper because “RAIN” was just too straight forward.

It was quite tricky to fit in new swirls in that ripped out space.  I didn’t un-sew any of the long wavy lines, so everything needed to be better and fit back into the same area.

You can still see those little stitching holes on the surface of the quilt, but I think those will go away once I spray/mist a bit of water on the quilt.  That’s what I’m hoping anyway.  !fingers crossed!

In an efforts to get the quilt to look even more like water, drips and ripples, I decided to accent the ripples with hot fix crystals from Margola Czech Rhinestones.  (I purchased the Rhinestones at Quilt Market/Festival in Houston in 2011.  So yeh, it is about time I got around to using some of them.)  The crystals are “every color” but I suppose when the camera flashed with the sunlight, they looked blue.  In real life, they are shimmery and every color.

2.5 inches in my yard.  Prior to that I had .5 inches all summer.

I just got a rain barrel last week and it was full in no time! now I want to get 3 more!

The rain does tend to flatten the flowers but most will spring back as the foliage dries.  Here are some pictures of my now wet garden….I love it!….click pictures to enlarge
