Some lost photos from Quilt Market! How I could let Echino fall through the cracks, I don’t know, but we’re all here together now and that’s what’s important. This season Etsuko Furuya is simultaneously releasing the latest iteration of her nature-themed collection AND more Ni-co, which is the more simple, graphic transportation-and-objects collection. We’re also getting some Decoro home dec prints on linen, oilcloth, and … mostexcitingnewsofquiltmarket, jacquards (that’s a link to ginapina‘s photo)! I’m not sure when those will be out, but I’m sure I’ll sense it, like a loyal dog

Birch Fabrics is growing by leaps and bounds. Go Birch Go! Coming this season they’re expanding into new substrates and bringing on new licensees, including a very huge name.

Jay-Cyn Designs will have three variations on a theme in three fabric types: organic quilting cotton, organic cotton canvas, and organic cotton knit. The home decor canvas collection is called The Grove, and it includes a patchwork cheater-type print as its centerpiece. I love the color palette of mustard and navy, light

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Lakehouse Dry Goods

Lakehouse Dry Goods is a small company well known for the highest quality cottons and print quality. Owner Holly Holderman introduces only one or two collections per Market, by herself or recent licensee Pam Kitty Morning, but they are very large collections covering the entire rainbow. Ms. Pam Kitty Morning herself showed me Lakehouse’s next collection, Sweet Things, which will be out in May 2013. The designs are shown on paper only, but she said that they are excellent representations of the final fabrics. Sweet Things is loosely about sweets

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Kaffe Fassett

Kaffe Fassett is still my favourite fabric designer. For me his stuff just never gets old. I would never use it all together in one quilt but using small pieces here and there and mixing them with the other things in my stash makes my quilts sparkle. Enough of my gushing – his fall release range is 28 pieces, along with some re-colourations of  older designs including my favourite print, August Rose.

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Amy and David Butler

Amy Butler‘s Alchemy collection is very complex! At 46 pieces you could be forgiven to not keep them all straight, but they’re divided up further into a lot of different substrates.

 

The Studio Collection contains 12 different prints in different fabrics, including rayon challis, sateen bliss, voile, velveteen, laminates, and linen rayon, aimed at fashion and home decor sewing.

Hard to know where to look at Anna Maria Horner‘s booth – there was so much to see and it’s all so pretty. Field Study, previously released in quilting cotton and now with rayon challis, voile, and velveteens joining the range, was made up in clothing, quilt, and bag patterns.

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Tula Pink

As usual, a visit to the Westminster/Freespirit/Moda booth at Market did not disappoint. There is a lot of ground to cover these days – Amy has already told you about some Freespirit designers and surrounds, I’m here to cover the big guns, starting with Tula Pink.

Tula Pink’s new range, Saltwater, is maritime themed and features shells, octopi, waves, and lifebouys. There are three colourways of aqua, coral and seaweed. There are 24 pieces in the range, plus six voiles and four laminates.

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Kei

Here’s what’s coming from Kei, the originators of the famous honeycomb dot. They have a beautiful retro-modern take on traditional Japanese motifs with the Kyoto Story collection. Their other series are loose collections of one-offs sharing a vaguely similar style — of course I go right for the vintage repros, but I’ll also be looking for their YN series for making some dresses.
