Getting Ready to Add to the Garden and A Question

Yesterday I finished adding labels to two little quilts. The nosegay block I showed yesterday was turned into one of those labels.

I’m almost finished making the little flowers that will be in my tiny garden quilt, so decided I’d better print some hexagons and half hexagons on a green fabric for the leaves and grass around the flowers. In just a couple of minutes I had these .50″ hexagons and half hexagons printed and cut out.

It’s a Small World and I’m Mad

Mad about miniatures, that is. Yesterday afternoon I decided to dive back into this wonderfully wacky world of tiny blocks and printed some of the kites from the Periwinkle Octagon collection and some QSTs on white fabrics, used some diamonds that were already printed for the Candy Stars doll quilt along with a green kite I had printed previously and then cut some light green squares that finish at 3/8ths of an inch. Yes, you read that right – 3/8ths of an inch.

Little Flowers

IMG_8102wtmk

I’m working on a small project that has to be finished quickly. So out came the baggie full of  .50″ hexagons that had already been printed on fabrics and I began making the flowers. My little garden is only going to have a dozen or so flowers. They go together quickly with a simple running stitch so I know I can complete it quite easily and have time to add some embellishments.

Star Points and More Star Points

The blue and white quilt in my blog header was made with star points and two sizes of hexagons. They were from the first Inklingo collection on CD, which was sold out long ago. But just a few days ago, new downloadable collections of two sizes of the star points were released. Now we have three sizes of them. And, of course, I’m determined to play with them all.

This red and white star is made with the 1″/2″ star point add-on collection that goes with the 1″ and

I’m Seeing Stars

IMG_8029wtmk

Little stars, medium stars, big stars. I’m seeing them all. The large ones made with 1″ 60-degree diamonds, the medium with .74″ diamonds and the little ones with .50″ diamonds. All printed on my fabrics with various Inklingo 60-degree diamond collections.

The large ones are for the tumbling stars quilt. The medium ones will be incorporated into a mug rug or mini quilt. The little ones? I’m playing with an idea for another miniature doll bed quilt

Tumbling Stars

Candy Stars is now quilted. All that’s left to do is the binding and the label.

IMG_8026wtmk

So I’ve started making the stars for the tumbling stars quilt in earnest. Another 102 to go and I’ll have all the stars for the quilt ready. I’ve got enough of the 1″ diamonds printed for another 20 stars. This weekend my printer is going to get a workout as I hope to get the balance of the diamonds printed for the stars and get a start on printing all the diamonds for the

Another Mug Rug Beginning

Yesterday I finished off the piecing of Candy Stars, graded the last of the little seams, made the bias binding and got the little quilt basted and ready to quilt.

IMG_8019wtmk

So last night I decided to play for a bit with some hexagons as I’m going to make another one of the hexagon mug rugs and prepare a pattern for it. Because, of course, I have loads and loads of hexagons and half hexagons that I had already printed on fabrics I was able to just

A Starry Weekend

IMG_7976wtmk

Lots more Candy Stars were finished off on the weekend. There are still seven left that need their white squares added. Then I can put all the different coloured threads away and just use the red to connect the Candy Stars to the red octagons and diamonds.

It’s fun to see the stack of the little Candy Stars growing. But it will be more fun to see the Candy Stars quilt finished. I’m still hoping it will be sometime

April Showers Mug Rug Blog Hop (and Giveaway)

It’s my day on the April Showers Mug Rug Hop. I can’t wait to go see what the other participants today have made! We are all making mug rugs with an April showers theme.

Madame Samm is our wonderful hostess, Erin our very hardworking cheerleader and Fabri-Quilt the sponsor. There are giveaways and tutorials on some of the blogs. Today’s participants are listed beneath my photos.

When I read the theme was April showers I immediately thought of windy days as, to me, April means

Tiny Periwinkle Block

IMG_7929wtmk

After making the large periwinkle block for the Inklingo Periwinkle reverse mystery quilt, I was determined to make a smaller one using the .75″ octagons. Although doing so involves using freezer paper templates and tracing around them rather than being able to print the template directly on to fabric, I can’t resist the little blocks. The finished size of the little periwinkle block is 4.25″.  It takes a bit of time to iron the templates on to fabric, cut around them and then trace the stitching lines
