Painting wood crafts

What do I do when I do not want to spend time sewing, quilting, embroidering, etc? I paint wood crafts!

This one comes from Brazil, and I just finished it, using stencils over an off-white background. It can be used as a caddy for utensils, or as a pencil or gadget holder.

My daughter-in-law, Daniela, liked it so I gave it to her. It is very light weight and durable, so I know it will last her a

Week 12 – No sewing, lots of painting!

I worked at getting my painting done.  Is it ever done?  I have the majority finished, but I still have touch-ups and close work to do.  Still I have pictures to share.

This is my red wall - before.  Notice the cream wall next to it.  The second picture is how the red wall looks in the sunlight.

We pulled everything away from and

Week 11 …My how time flies!

Well, I am 11 weeks into the year, and I am keeping up with my blogging.  Will miracles never cease?!  :)

This week I have been painting, and I have more painting to do, so no pictures to show, yet.  I have taken some before and during pictures.  The after pictures will be taken soon, I hope.  Still have trim to do, and the kitchen.

I did finish the customer quilt I was working on, and I got the binding on the baby boy quilt.  Here it is all finished.

Tsukineko Ink Test

Flower Test

Flower Test

I bought some Tsukineko inks some time ago and never had the chance to use them. As time passed, I lost my inspiration and the inks languished.

Mark Lipinski did me a real favor when I was at his house and I don’t even think he knows. He asked me about my art quiltmaking in the process of the podcast. He was trying to get to know me and, instead, he changed my focus. I had gotten away from

Four heads are better than one

This week I wanted to try out some new products so I contacted Lisa Quintana and she contacted two of her friends, Susan Pickrell and Debra Bentley. We got together for two afternoons to explore various ways to use deColourant, deColourant Plus, and deColourant Spray. Ideas certainly start flying when four fiber artists start to play!

DeColourant is designed to remove color from natural fibers including fabric or paper. DeColourant Plus removes the color, but it also adds another color at the same time. We had a blast painting, squeezing, stamping, and stenciling. We

Mini private workshop

Fabric paintingLast week I decided to set aside Monday and Tuesday as a mini private painting workshop. I loaded up bottles and bottles of fabric paint that I’ve collected over the last ten or fifteen years. I knew some were probably no good any more, but I was determined to use up whatever I could. We loaded them all up in the RV (Thanks again, Dad!), along with yards and yards of various white cotton fabrics that I had accumulated, and on Sunday we headed out for
