Valley View is Saffron Craig’s newest organic cotton collection for Fern Textiles in Australia. It is composed of eight prints in a bright spring/summer palette of pink, yellow, purple, and black, with elements of mod 1960s, cross stitch, and (as always!) the Australian landscape. There is a cheater print and a signature Saffron border print too.They are available directly from the Saffron Craig website, and coming very soon from Honey Be Good in the U.S.

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Amy and David Butler

Amy Butler‘s Alchemy collection is very complex! At 46 pieces you could be forgiven to not keep them all straight, but they’re divided up further into a lot of different substrates.

 

The Studio Collection contains 12 different prints in different fabrics, including rayon challis, sateen bliss, voile, velveteen, laminates, and linen rayon, aimed at fashion and home decor sewing.

Fall Quilt Market 2012: Clothworks

As we saw with many companies this Market, Clothworks featured solids. Their goal is to offer their collection, Everyday Organic Solids, at an affordable price. Their organic fabric is surprisingly soft to the touch!

The Clothworks booth featured two quilts made from their solids.  I love the colorful sawtooth stars of varying sizes — especially the larger ones.

The orange, white, purple and green “squares within squares” quilt feels a bit like an optical illusion.

Green Bee Design & Patterns had a booth at market for the second time ever to show off their hot-off-the-presses sewing pattern collection, and how great they look paired with Rob Bancroft’s new fabric collection, MicroMod for Cloud9 Fabrics. (Rob is 1/3 of Green Bee Enterprises!) A few sample projects generated buzz for Alexia’s Jan. 2013 book for Stash Books, Liberty Love.

The dynamic duo behind Cloud 9, Michelle Engel Bencsko and Gina Pantastico, presented so much this Market, I didn’t know what to show you first!  All of Cloud 9′s gorgeous designs are printed on 100% certified organic cotton.

 

First up, Mixteca by Eleanor Grosch.  Eleanor pairs both cool and warm brights with black and white to create Mexican-inspired prints in her bold graphic style.  Mixteca will be available January 2013.

Preview: Elk Grove Knits from Birch Fabrics

Birch Fabrics is introducing their first organic knits collection! Elk Grove Knits is expected in stores May 2013 and I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of it at Quilt Market (along with the companion quilting cotton and home dec collections). I already have a chevron T-shirt and some elk baby rompers formed in my mind.

Here’s a look at Clothworks‘ newest offerings. Alyssa Thomas of Penguin & Fish is up first, with her second organic collection Picnic Pals. Clothworks expanded their organic solid colors to go with the Pals, and Alyssa has a companion embroidery pattern which you can get for free by signing up for her newsletter. Fall Quilt Market 2011: More Birch Fabrics

Maybe the sign of a fabric company’s official arrival is having a basics collection. I love that Birch Fabrics‘ Mod Basics line has a little bit of flair beyond your typical basic prints, and that it establishes Birch’s palette/brand. The orange and coral, by the way, are the perfect and much-sought-after shades, not too garish, not too soft or peachy.
