Fall Quilt Market 2012: Clothworks

As we saw with many companies this Market, Clothworks featured solids. Their goal is to offer their collection, Everyday Organic Solids, at an affordable price. Their organic fabric is surprisingly soft to the touch!

The Clothworks booth featured two quilts made from their solids.  I love the colorful sawtooth stars of varying sizes — especially the larger ones.

The orange, white, purple and green “squares within squares” quilt feels a bit like an optical illusion.

Free Pattern Day: Sailboats

Are you familiar with the sailboat quilt block ?  This pattern has been around for 80 years and it is still a classic.  Recently, we spotted a wonderful vintage sailboat quilt at Antique Quilts (shown below).  Wouldn't it be perfect for a kid's room, or a summer house by the sea ?  We've also discovered some clever modern designs - and free patterns - for sailboat quilts.

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Clothworks

Brandi Frey, marketing coordinator for Clothworks, is one of my favorite Quilt Market people! I got to sit down with her again at this market, though it felt too short. Clothworks has some lovely new collections coming in Spring 2012. You can see all of them here. First, we have Robin by Erin Ries, a simple, sweet, calming, and classic assortment of prints.
