February Quilting Accomplishments

February has been an extremely productive month for me! I feel elated to have finished so much and to have worked on a bunch of tops that will become finishes in the next few months. I spent a couple Sunday afternoons quilting, which really helped get me closer to finishes.
I quilted this Modern Rose Garden quilt for Emilee.

I quilted up my Briar Rose quilt and finished the binding on it, just in time for the trunk show I did on February 16th.

Quilting Up a Storm

This weekend I pulled the quilt frame out and worked on several quilts for a friend. I quilted this flannel baby quilt with a sage green King Tut and Bottomline. It turned out so nice and cozy.

I also quilted up this pink/green baby quilt she had made several years ago and wanted to get finished.

I spent the most time on this small table runner. It gave me lots of headaches because each of the leaves is loose, think prairie points and I had to

Hexagons Made Easy Reversible Hexies

Hexagons Made Easy focuses on two main types of hexagon construction techniques.  Both techniques eliminate Y-seams and hand stitching (like English Paper Piecing techniques).  I’ve already mentioned the Applique Technique; let me tell you about the second technique.

Reversible

The idea of reversible shapes came to me after realizing that if we really wanted SUPER quick and EXCEEDING easy quilt projects, maybe we should skip a few steps.  Now it will be argued that these projects are not quilts, but rather coverlets.  That’s fine.  You are right, you got me.  They are coverlets.

Soraia’s flannel quilt

This is the flannel quilt I made for my niece, Soraia. The original pattern was 70"x70", but I turned it into a twin size quilt. The pattern is Puzzle Box by Tracey Brookshier. This pattern is ideal for showcasing a favorite fabric, and perfect for flannels. In fact, this is the second pattern by Tracey that I've done.

The first one was Shoji (if only I had a picture of it... I never took pictures of my quilts before I gifted them

Flannel Quilt

The weather was very cold last night for the first time this month, and I started thinking again about working with flannels.  Then, my sister surprised me today with pictures of quilts I made for her and her family. Among the pictures, was this flannel one I made for her 16-year-old daughter, Amanda.

As I mentioned before, when working with flannels I prefer to use less complicated blocks. The quilting is simple as well, to maintain the soft hand

Here is the back.

The quilting is a bit different through flannel because of the thickness but not difficult.

for my next project I drew out a Tree of Life pattern on a piece of muslin

It is 45″ x 56″  and will be a whole cloth wall hanging.
