Dealtry + Wiksten Print in Cerulean

{ this print in three colorways is a collaboration between Wiksten and Helen Dealtry }

Designer Jenny Gordy of Wiksten has prints from last year’s spring-summer collection available to print on demand from Spoonflower. You don’t see a lot of prints on Spoonflower specifically designed with fashion sewing in mind (at least I don’t, but please direct me to them if you do!), so these are wonderful to see. They would of course be perfect printed

Polka Dot Knit

polkadotknit-orangegreen

This polka dot sweatshirt-looking heathered knits from rakuten.co.jp are adorable! I don’t know the first thing about the site but there is always a lovely reader or two who chimes in on international shipping and such things. (via Japanese Sewing Books)

Vlisco: Jeu de Couleurs

jeusuperzig

I always look forward to getting Vlisco’s emails, and lately there seems to be something new and exciting every week from them, it’s been hard to keep up! They are active on Pinterest which allows more access to their always-gorgeous campaigns and look books, essential to understanding the scale and look of these fabrics. Some other good news is that they are now selling select fabrics through their web shop in two- and four-yard lengths, where the minimum order used to be six-yard lengths of any one fabric.

Bright, bold

Surfing Lion Boardshort Fabric

leolionboardshortwruler

Store-bought boardshorts for boys tend to be pretty ugly print-wise (I either try not to care or opt for a solid, maybe with a smart racing stripe or some piping). But The Fabric Fairy has this boardshort fabric (a polyester microfiber) which is awfully cute. I’d never considered making my kids’ swim trunks till now.

Petit Pan

coton-calamity-orage

Petit Pan of France offers sweet baby clothing and home goods created with their exclusive line of fabrics. They also sell their fabrics to those who would like to DIY instead of (or in addition to!) purchasing finished goods. Petit Pan is inspired by Chinese themes and motifs, which is interesting to see. The collection is heavy on geometrics that will work for any age and gender. They do ship worldwide AND sell wholesale, if you are a shop owner looking for something unique to offer.

Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day!

I-Love-My-LQS-200x250The True Up household has been visited by various virii and allergies and mixtures of both this week, so I wasn’t able to participate in Local Quilt Shop Day to the extent that I’d hoped (or anything else, for that matter), but, even though it’s past closing time already, I couldn’t let the day pass without a shout-out to my town’s local fabric stores. OK OK, not all of them are quilt stores, but I’m all about breaking down the barriers between fabric worlds — all have something you can

Mociun Fabrics

Online shop Beklina has exclusive, limited stock fabric yardage from Brooklyn-based designer Caitlin Mociun. These silks and hand-printed fabrics would be worth the splurge — I’m not sure she is producing fashion collections any longer (jewelry seems to be the focus now) and her prints have been very influential in the contemporary surface design world.

Pickering International

K1201-BlueGeo_full

Pickering International is a San Francisco-based wholesale company specializing in textiles made from sustainable and organic fibers. They have all manner of fabric types made from organic cotton and linen, hemp, bamboo, soybean, silk, wool, and other fibers (yak!). And blends thereof. These are just some of the prints and woven or knit patterns, but their real specialties are solids, textures, and stripes. Look for them at Drygoods Design and ask for them at your favorite indie apparel fabric shops.
