My Downfall

I LOVE food. Especially these. They are oh so YUMMY. Recently hubby and I went to try out a new restaurant called Sammy's Woodfired Pizza. The atmosphere was really nice and the service was great. Here's what we tried:

These are mini duck tacos. I didn't realize there was such a thing. Goes to show you it's been a while since I've tried anything new. It was really good.

NOT MUCH TO SAY

It's been a bit hectic around here lately......so there's not much to share in the way of our common interests......

Instead.....here's Sooty....who really and truly thinks she's a lap dog.

After 3 days of labor......our son and his fabulous and exhausted wife are now proud parents....but never mind them.....we are proud grandparents!

This big guy, 8 lbs. 13 ozs. - 22" was happy where he was.......so a C-section was necessary.......everyone is happy and healthy.

You all have been so supportive (and curious).....this baby boy is still very content to stay put and not join our team yet.....

My goodness, our worn out DIL and son are exhausted.....  but all good things come to those who wait.....and I'm waiting for the phone to ring!

BABY WATCH

I try to keep this blog on task......away from politics, social causes, manufactured issues, and yes, even most family matters....however I must share with you.....we are on baby watch today!! Yippie.....  Like many mothers-to-be...sometimes the action slows down to a point that one has to go back home and wait for nature to take its course again.  So we all wait for our son and his wife to call with the good news!

Here, Mama. Take My Tooth.

TPW_5090My sister Betsy and I basically forgot we were adults last week. We flew together from Seattle to Los Angeles and I made her watch Enchanted on the plane.

TPW_5089She liked it.

Raise your hand if you love Enchanted more every time you watch it.

I think it’s Amy Adams’ very, very, very, very best role.

And the chemistry between Amy and Patrick? Especially toward

Quilting is done!

Surrender by Maria ElkinsHooray!!! I’ve finished all the quilting, and we’ve celebrated with Dairy Queen! Now I just need to label it, sleeve it, photograph it, document it…what else? I’m afraid all that is going to have to wait a bit since I have two other deadlines to work on first. BUT, I did finish it in time to send an entry form for June’s NQA show. This is a non-juried show that accepts the first 400 entries, and the “received by” deadline is April 30.

Seattle With My Sister

I’ve been in Seattle for the past couple of days, and now my sister Betsy and I are on a plane together headed for Los Angeles. We’ll be there together, being all Thelma and Louisey for two days, then we’ll fly together to Phoenix, where Marlboro Man and the boys will be waiting for us.

I loved Seattle. I tweeted this the other day, but it bears repeating: I was there for 48 hours and didn’t see a single thing that wasn’t cool.

The houses are cool, and

tuesday morning sunroom love

IMG_5778
There is nothing sweeter to me these days than sitting in our sunroom, with my little guy in my lap and reading our science books as the morning sunshine streams through the windows.

We are studying zoolology at the moment, (Apologia, Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day) and more specifically birds and eggs and nests.

In the perfect little gift from the Lord we have had not one, but two pairs of wrens build nests in the

100 Days

She went through my snippets jar, picking out 100 unique pieces of fabric.
She trimmed them into relative squares and rectangles.
She sat on my lap in front of the machine.
She learned how to line up the edges of the fabric, place them, and drop the needle.
She guided them through the machine while I worked the pedal. Or we switched jobs and played Red Light. Green Light.
She placed the rows and sewed some more.

She celebrated 100 Days of school.
