Fall Quilt Market 2011: FreeSpirit/Westminster – Amy Butler

Ta-da! Here it is! The most wonderful Amy Butler introducing Lark (and the inspiration for it, Maxime de la Falaise) and giving us a tour of her booth. Amy Butler just released her own Lark video here.

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Yara African Fabrics

Kristen’s Spring Market post on Yara African Fabrics was a hit, so we made a point to visit them again. Yara is based in Harlem and offers beautiful woven mud cloths, wax prints, block prints, batiks, tie dyes, and brocades.

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Coral Tree Fabrics

Oh, what an adventure it is trying to process and upload a video for the first time … I can’t believe I’ve never done it before. Well, while we wait for Youtube to make my awesome Amy Butler video available, I’ll share a couple booths from far-off lands from you.

Kristen came across South Africa’s Coral Tree Fabrics, the quilting fabric division of Da Gama Textiles, one of the country’s oldest and leading textile producers. Coral Tree was promoting their Shweshwe Collection and Rainforest Collection. These

Fall Quilt Market 2011: FreeSpirit/Westminster/Rowan

{ photo by Kristen Lejnieks }

I ran out of time at Quilt Market and failed to capture the rest of FreeSpirit/Westminster/Rowan‘s offerings (except for Amy Butler, the one and only video I managed despite plans to video everyone, coming up next!). Fortunately the new collections are well-represented on the web, so I’ll point you around:

I was at Anna Maria Horner‘s booth a couple times, but we never stopped the chatting enough for me to take pictures. You can virtually visit her booth here. LouLouThi velveteen,

Fall Quilt Market 2011: FreeSpirit/Westminster – Jenean Morrison

Jenean Morrison had an insanely creative booth. So I would have given her the Creativity Award if Quilt Market hadn’t beaten me to it. It made me think “Is there anything fabric can’t do?” Also, I’ve compared fabric to music before (collections = albums, etc.) so it’s just so helpful when designers actually name their fabrics after the music that inspired them! Power Pop is available in stores now. I especially adore the cheater-ish geometric print, and the bow ties … they’re just excellent. Jeanine rocks!

Fall Quilt Market 2011: FreeSpirit – Mark Cesarik

I finally got to meet Mark Cesarik and his wife Cara at this Market and they are the greatest people! Cara is the sewist and marketing side of the team, and she somehow squeezes this all in between studying at med school. In their booth they were showing off Mark’s new collection for FreeSpiritMorning Tides, which is newly out in stores. Mark is also working on a collection of embroidery patterns, hinted at in the picture below. You can get a peek of Mark’s Spring 2012 collection, Cosmic Burst, here

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Art Gallery Fabrics

Here’s what’s next from Art Gallery Fabrics: Poetica (above), in stores February 2012. Pat Bravo has been brining some rougher, more natural looking lines to her motifs, which I love.

Summerlove has a warm-season palette befitting its name, and with lots of Tangerine, which happens to be the Pantone color of the year. It’ll be out in March 2012.

Rhapsodia will be Art Gallery’s April 2012 collection. It weaves in

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Art Gallery Fabrics – Current Collections

Art Gallery Fabrics showed off their most recently released collections by Patricia Bravo with some magnificent, glowing, colorful displays. Their booth won second place in the double booth division, and I think you can easily see why from these photos. Thanks to Art Gallery Fabrics for sharing these!

This pillow shows off Art Gallery’s Pure Elements Solids and Oval Elements blenders. Both collections boast a handful of new colors this season.

Modernology,

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Clothworks

Brandi Frey, marketing coordinator for Clothworks, is one of my favorite Quilt Market people! I got to sit down with her again at this market, though it felt too short. Clothworks has some lovely new collections coming in Spring 2012. You can see all of them here. First, we have Robin by Erin Ries, a simple, sweet, calming, and classic assortment of prints.

City Streets by Jamie Wood has a border

Fall Quilt Market 2011: Clothworks – Penguin & Fish

Alyssa Thomas of Penguin & Fish was at Quilt Market spreading the embroidery love, celebrating the recent arrival of her debut organic fabric collection Safari Sweet, and previewing her next collection with Clothworks, Picnic Pals Organic. I can see this going older or younger depending on the combination of prints, and all together it’s a perfect balance of sophistication and cuteness.
