Tooth Be Told

I'll be back to crafting soon.  I've been playing nurse for DH who has been having dental issues.  For someone who has not had radiation to the head and neck area, it's not really a big deal.  For someone who has, you need to jump through hoops for a tooth to be removed.

So, DH spent 4+ weeks preparing for the tooth to be removed and we are finally here.  He's resting comfortably.  Let's just hope it heals properly.  Again, those who have had treatment to the head/neck have much slower healing.  2 more weeks of post treatment for

Coupons, Cotton and Towels

COUPONS

I don't know why I'm always a month late buying my Joann's Spring/Summer coupons.  Maybe it's because I don't go out shopping much in February since it's so cold!  The sun was shinning yesterday so I stopped by Joann's while I was out on errands.  I found my favorite Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Fusion magazine.  My shop places it on top of the pattern cabinets.  I buy it just for the coupons on the back.  You get two 50% off and 4 40% off coupons.  I think it's getting harder to find items not on sale at Joann's

Favorite Orange Vision

I have been feeding the birds and squirrels some seeds and fruit lately.  The last week I've been wondering when I will see my first robin of the season.  Today, when running downstairs to do a load of laundry, I saw the familiar color orange off in the distance out the back door.  It can't be... I ran upstairs to get my camera thinking it would surely be gone by the time I reached back downstairs.

Nope, it didn't move much at all but stood around waiting for me to take a photo!  Look how nice!  Ignore the dead

February Funny – Flunked Feathers

As much as I tried, I could not produce a decent feather sample for the February lesson in SewCalGal's FreeMotion Quilt Challenge:

But, I did try to accomplish Diane Gaudynski's Feathers.  I don't think I was very successful at all.  I would say I'm a preschooler in the school of feathers.  I think mine look like alien fingers.  My problem is that I can not create a feather starting at the bottom and sewing up.  As much as I try, my brain can't connect

AccuQuilt Hearts to Clover Tea Towel

I decided to use my hearts die for a four leaf clover design.  I cut out the hearts using my Go Baby and then the stem is from another die.  I also cut matching forms of steam a seam 2 fusible web.  I fused the applique down and then added two fabric ruffles at the bottom of the tea towel.  I've had these flower sack tea towels for a long time and I've been itching to use them.

To finish it off, I added a two layers of matching fabric ruffles to the bottom of the towel.  I then

Kiss Me, I’m Irish Embroidery File

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways
I completed a few more prototypes for my embroidery file that I used for my mug rug instructions.   I finally gave up on the lip liner for my embroidered lips.  I just could not get it on straight.  However, I did get the letters to stitch out sooo much better.  My second try, they stitched out so well, it took an hour to stitch out the design.  LOL

So, here is the 3rd stitch out.  Only took 30 minutes.  I only tested it out

Irish Mug Rug Prototype Completed

I embroidered my digital design today and created a Mug Rug for my coffee.  The size of the embroidery file was 5" wide by 4" tall.  I ended up making the size of the mug rug to be 6" wide by 5" tall.  At first I thought the size would be too big, but now I love it.  I don't have to be soo careful with my cup of coffee to make sure it is on the rug.

I will share the file

Mug Rug Pursuit

While I'm busy slowly sewing my strip quilt blocks.  I needed to start another project.  What can I say, nothing keeps my attention for long :-)  So, I decided I'm going to make a Mug Rug.  My goal is to make a design I can use for the end of February and beginning of March so It's going to be a green mug rug.  You never know, I might make this a series.

I'm going to try two different designs.  One will be a shamrock and the other will have embroidery on it.  I'm in the design / development

Corny Cut Up Card

My ideas finally came together for this years Valentines Day card.  I need to add a little more in bling bling and ribbon on the edges and I'll be close to done.  Today I really went old school with glue and scissors.  I decided to make my message out of all the fonts in the sales papers today.  Here's where it ended up.  It was so refreshing to just relax and return to the basic items.

and for the inside, here's what
