Swoon Kits

Swoon is in the bag! Okay, that's more literal then true. It's in baggies and ready to be sewn. I have been putting off working on my Swoon quilt for quite a while. I started it in March. We had a Swoon party at Gaila's and she's finished with her quilt. I worked on it in April or May at Club Sew, sewed too many of the wrong squares together and knew I had to rip, so I quit. Quite literally I put it in the bag and left it there, never to be worked on again. However, this week

WIP Wednesday 10.3.12 Week 40

This was a big week for us! We on a whim Saturday night moved my sewing room out of its current location downstairs and moved the frame up to the kids room. In the process I set up a temp sewing space in the kids room until we get the flooring finished and worked on my Briar Rose quilt. I had completely screwed up the last step, so Monday I ripped out all the corner pieces, re-cut the edge pieces, and re-sewed them all. It took me all of Monday, but I got all the edging pieces done. Last night

WIP Wednesday Week 39 9.26.12

This week simply flew by! I tried to jam pack a lot into it with Dad's wedding on Friday and then catching up at home during the weekend. We're getting ready to move rooms around for the new baby, so my quilt frame has to come down. I decided I wanted to finish up a couple more quilts. Monday night I quilted this Mocha Meringue quilt that I plan to use in the nursing room at work.

I'm preparing for a UFO class I'm teaching in Oct. so I sorted all my UFO's out

WIP Wednesday Week 38 9.19.12

This past week has been crazy busy! I am so ready for October, so I can slow down.
Oh wait, no sure it will happen then either. I had a couple finishes from last week I wanted to share pictures of since the shower is over. My co-worker Jody's shower was on Sat. and I gave her this little diaper clutch. It's made with the leftover backing fabric from her baby quilt.

I finally finished my dad and Ann's wedding quilt. It will be given to them on Friday. I think it's my

Star Quilt Class – November 3rd

Several years ago as a birthday present to myself, mom and I took a star quilt class together. We both really challenged ourselves to do our best work and work on our piecing skills. We both finished the quilts and I fell in love with hers. However it went to my nephew and I can't recreate the quilt. I did find the scraps of leftover material though! I pulled it out and there is enough for the borders of a wall hanging, so I pulled colors from it and am creating a star quilt using those colors.
I've been asked

WIP Wednesday 37 9.12.12

This week flew by, but boy did I have fun! I finished the top of Jen's swap quilt and I love it if I do say so myself. It turned out just as I had kind of pictured it. I also finished up the hand sewn binding on Jody's baby quilt and made a diaper clutch and changing pad to match the quilt. The shower is on Saturday. I worked more on the batik quilt from last week, but decided it is really mindless sewing and I would be better spent doing that at my sewing club night with

WIP Wednesday Week 36 9.5.12

This week I kind of went crazy after seeing a post on WIP Wednesday post and started a new quilt. It has a bunch of 16 patch blocks, so I made those first. I alternated between cutting and pressing at work during lunch and sewing at night. I have all these blocks done. I used my scrappy 2.5" batik strips.

While we were camping this weekend I cut the other strips into 2.5" squares and 4.5" squares of background. I was doing it on the picnic table and got a bit too much direct

WIP Wednesday Week 35 8.29.12

This week I didn't get nearly as much done as I would have liked. Thursday night I cleaned house for my sewing studio tour on Friday. Friday I had friends Gaila, Emilee, Heather, & Kay Lynn over to tour my sewing studio and learn how I use my frame. We practiced on the frame and then sat around and visited and watched Rosalee and Mikaela play. I did get a bit of handwork done on a baby quilt, but that was about it.
One day at work last week I pulled out my hexi's and worked on making a

WIP Wednesday Week 34 8.22.12

This week was really productive, although I didn't get to sew quite as much as I would have liked.
I had a bad experience at the fair when I went to enter my 8 quilts Thurs. night. The ladies questioned if I had made them, if I had quilted them myself, and made fun of the 8 I brought. They also asked if I worked.  They were not nice ladies, so I went home that night and found 3 others to finish up and take to the fair on Friday to enter. I received 4 1st ribbons, 6 2nd ribbons,

WIP Wednesday Week 33 8.15.12

This past week went by so quickly and I could have used a few more hours in the days, but I got done what had to be done. Thursday night I loaded my dad's quilt on the frame. I got to about the last foot and the tension was a bit off. I pulled it out, but it was after 10:30 and I was just too tired to go on. Friday I left at noon and Mikaela and I went to Sioux Falls to meet up with my college roommate Nichole. We spent the weekend with her and her
