There are many reasons I love attending quilt shows. As an online store I have the opportunity to meet and connect with my customers and get first hand feedback on our products. I also enjoy being part of the day’s vibrant energy and participating in the creative discussion.

But it is viewing the quilts on display that puts the finishing touch to attending a quilt show.

Quilt exhibition at Brooklyn Museum in New York

Life is wonderful when my children can still surprise me!

Last week my eldest son, almost 29, went to New York City to visit a friend. Imagine my surprise when these unbelievable photos of historical quilts arrived in my inbox on my iPhone!  Turns out he stumbled upon a recently-opened quilt show called “Workt by Hand”: Hidden Labour and Historical Quilts.

There are 35 American and European pieces that examine “the impact of feminist scholarship on the ways historical quilts have been and are currently viewed, contextualized, and interpreted. Spanning two centuries of quilt making, the exhibition features superlative examples of
