Portland Tourist Quilt Market 2013

Unlike every other Quilt Market I’ve attended, I am combining Portland Spring Market with an actual real sight-seeing vacation.  So far, Portland has been great!  I have city pics to share with you.  I, of course, have schoolhouse and market pictures to share too- but today is tourist day on the sewing blog.  My husband and I were able to see the city after  the schoolhouse series let out on Friday.

Portland

Portland has a great light rail and public transport system which makes seeing all sorts of things very accessible

SAMQG Vintage Modern Quilt Block

Vintage Modern Quilt Block Challenge

ChallengeBlock1

I told you about the San Antonio Modern Quilt Guild block challenge – we received vintage blocks and the challenge was to recreate a modern block using ONLY these fabrics.  I was lucky enough to get two blocks to work on this month.  Here’s a link to the first one.

This is the NEW block from the second vintage block I deconstructed.  It is a little windowed hexagon using the techniques in

YouTube Love

YouTubeScreen

Over the course of having this sewing blog, I’ve posted a whopping 3 videos to YouTube.  My kids are interested in YouTube, so in an efforts to help them, I logged in and checked out the 3 lonely clips from 2010-2011.  Turns out people have been watching these videos!  I wanted to hop on and tell you a big THANKS for checking them out.  24,329 total views.  I suppose that may not be alot to real YouTube people, and it may not be “viral” but wow- it is

SAMQG Challenge Block

ChallengeBlock1

The first Thursday of the month is the San Antonio Modern Quilt Guild meeting.  I always leave quite inspired.  This month was no different.  We saw a movie on Gees Bend and got to flip through some of the members’ books on Gees Bend.  Of course, the block above is NOT Gees, but it is our challenge block.

Challenge block?  Well, that isn’t modern at all.  I know- that IS the challenge.  3 coverlets (quilted bed covers) were donated to our guild after being found.

HEXAGONS MADE EASY – Launch Party!!!

PartyPeeps

This weekend was the LAUNCH party for Hexagons Made Easy!  It was a hoot.  Friends from the San Antonio Modern Quilt Guild stopped by for the festivities.  I had the party organized in to food, Sew Station, Door Prize Station, Charity Quilt Station and Trunk Show Station.    Here’s some pics from the evening:

Food

Cupcakes

I wanted to have foods that were shaped like hexagons.  Turns out- that is kinda tricky.
